Good Behaviour
The following summary of our behaviour aims is pinned up in
each classroom:
At St Andrew's School, each of us expects everyone to:
-
Respect each other, Respect ourselves and Respect the
school environment
-
Be polite to each other at all times
-
Work hard and to the best of our ability
-
Be careful and sensible at all times
-
Be a good advertisement for the school
| There is a merit system in place at school which rewards
good behaviour and good effort at work. Children receive merit stamps and,
when they have reached a target, certificates, which are awarded in assembly
 |
 |
| A cup is awarded to the pupil achieving most during the
year, and there are other awards also for each year group. All children
who attend the school are expected to behave in a polite and acceptable
manner, that will not offend nor injure any other member of the school
community. There is a written code of conduct at the school which is
intended to encourage pupils to develop a respect for others around them,
and for books, equipment and the school as a whole. Pupils are made aware
of a few basic rules when they start at the school, and they will be
expected to act within these rules. Frequent reminders are given as
necessary. |
Where punishments become necessary, these may take the form of loss of
privileges or more serious punishments such as detentions and exclusions. If
your child is to be detained beyond the end of normal school time you will be
given 24 hours notice. Where there is serious or persistent misbehaviour,
parents are informed and invited to come into school to discuss the matter.
The emphasis is very much on children developing self-discipline, and this
is one of the reasons behind the successful introduction of the merit system.
