“A church
school
-
nourishes Christians in their faith
-
encourages those of other faiths
-
Challenges those of no faith”
Robert Runcie, Archbishop of Canterbury 1980 – 91

OUR ETHOS
Recognising its historic foundation, St Andrew’s School will
preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the
principles of the Church of England and in partnership with the Church
at parish and diocesan level.
We aim to serve our community by providing an education of the
highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice.
We encourage an understanding of the meaning and significance of
faith, and promote Christian values through the experience offered to
all of our pupils.
|
- To provide children with an experience of Christian life and worship
and encourage them to respect the religious, spiritual, cultural and
moral values of others.
- To provide a safe and secure atmosphere in which children enjoy
learning, and in which each feels that he or she is important, making a
unique contribution
- To encourage positive partnerships between home, school, church and
community, to the benefit of all.
- To provide a balanced curriculum to enable each of our children to
learn, to do their very best and to enjoy being at school.
- To develop in the children lively, enquiring minds so that they will
be able to carry on enjoying learning throughout their lives as young
people and adults.
- To develop in children self-discipline and good manners, with a
sense of responsibility and respect for themselves, for others and for
the environment.
- To give children equal opportunities, treating each child fairly. To
give them the chance to discover and develop talents and interests of
their own.
- To help the children to understand the importance of a healthy
lifestyle, and learn how they can live in a healthy way.
